Chris Webber is one of my favorite basketball players, all-time. I've been a fan of his since his Bullets days in Washington. But I have a theory about him and what happens to teams after they trade him away.
The teams lose. Look at Golden State. After trading him they become a losing team most of the time. Then the Wizards (ex-Bullets) traded him to Sacramento for Mitch Ritchmond and Otis Thorpe. I thought the Wizards would be a perennial playoff team with Juwan and Mitch. But boy was I wrong.
Turned out Sacramento started winning with Webber around. More of his skills were shown off and he started carrying the team. Of course there were doubters and naysayers, but that's just natural.
Then he blows his knee out, missed nearly an entire season, and supposedly ruins the Kings' chemistry when he returns.
Right.
So the Kings chose Peja Stojakovic over Chris Webber. They sent C Webb to Philly for three players. Good move at the time. Because Webb still wasn't at 100%. Nor was he comfortable with moving with his surgically repaired knee.
Now the Kings are in disarray. The Sixers are just a .500 team but they're in a better situation that the Kings. Just ask Marc Stein of ESPN.com.
So the Kings, after trading Webber, start to fall apart. Coincidence? Or the Curse of the Big, Bad Wolf?
You decide.

One Slow Day
One slow day in the office...
Nelson Bohol (of Pixar - he was involved with Cars, Finding Nemo, and The Incredibles) dropped by our office today. He's a friend of our animation director, Sir Dani.
One of the perks of being in the animation industry.
Although most of you won't really know (or care) who he is, let's just say its the equivalent of meeting a Hollywood actor.
So, let's see (and brag a bit) I've met Mr. Nelson Bohol (and got an autograph to boot). And I've worked with Mr. Hans Bacher. That's two important people I've met. Both were also involved with Disney (six degrees of whatever).
Two people who've worked hard to be where they are now.
Cool.

Ramble
As I sit here on my chair, at work, with no projects queued up, my thoughts drift. Random. Swirling. An image forms and disappears almost instantaneously.
I'm sitting here. Listening to the Eheads tribute album, and chatting with some folks. Killing time and resting my brain. Because once projects come and I get one, its going to be hot. Again.
So what am I getting at? Nothing. I'm just typing away here. Practicing my sentence and paragraph construction. Seeing if I can still write coherently. Using big words to sound cool and interesting. Blah. Blah. Blah.
I miss reading Scoop Jackson's articles on SLAM. I used to hate his style of writing when I was young. Too racially charged. Too "black". Too angsty. Then as I grew older I started apprectiating his style. My classmate in high school was right, Scoop was good. And his style was worth emulating.
If ever you get to read some of his articles (which you can now find at ESPN.com) you'll see why. At first you'll get annoyed. Might not appreciate it. But he's good.
And that's how I write. I write like him. I also write like a friend of mine, who is now living far away, down under. Another influence I had. Cool guy. Hopefully our paths will cross again.
Anyway I'm getting too sentimental...
Its a new year, folks. Time to try and improve. And I mean that with all sincerity.
This is going to be cool.
Enough for now. Still can't form a coherent thought process.

First Post of 2006
So 2005 has come and gone and now its 2006.
Here's hoping for a nice new year.
As for resolutions, I have none.
(I swear I really wanted to write something but right now I don't seem to be in the right mood.)
