I was browsing an online shopping platform on my mobile phone recently and just for fun I looked for 700 x 33C tires. These are the max allowed tires for cyclocross bikes and surprisingly, I found a seller with these spec tires.
So I go to their store page and browse what other stuff they sell and surprisingly they were also selling Avid BB7 Road brake calipers. For context I was considering getting these calipers for my bike when I was assembling it a few years ago but couldn't find a shop that sold original Avid BB7s, as most were very cheap and looked fake.
This new shop is selling a pair for a relatively more expensive amount so I'm guessing these are real Avid BB7s. And the tires they're selling also come from a relatively known brand, though I can't remember the name at the moment.
So do I buy these and modify my bike? My original plan was to get a new wheelset and tires but this may be a more practical choice. My current brake calipers are cheap and hybrid, meaning cable actuated hydraulic brakes, and I don't really feel the stopping power whenever I just press on the rear brakes.
A bigger question is do I even ride? Very rarely to be honest. And I don't know if I'll have the drive to go out and ride, specially since I really don't think the roads are getting any safer for cyclists.
So bottom line, nice to discover, but maybe not a good idea to buy.
Out.
