Just my take on the whole EDSA thing.
I know this is a bit late, but internet's been spotty at work. So now's my chance to rant.
I've been seeing some morning shows featuring college students speaking about the meaning of EDSA and many other related issues. Now, correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't EDSA occur during 1986? And if my math is correct, I was six years old then. If current college students are around, say, 20, then they wouldn't have been born yet during EDSA.
So why the hell are they so damned passionate about something that happened when they weren't even born yet (or weren't aware yet). I mean, c'mon. I don't even remember EDSA. I was too young to remember much of what happened, much less remember its importance. So who gave the college kids the right to speak about something they didn't experience first hand, just because they studied in some exclusive school?
Oh sure, they're concerned. They want change. They're idealists. But let's just be damn realistic, shall we? They weren't around during EDSA '86 so don't go around spouting off rants like they were experts about the spirit of EDSA. Because they weren't there.
Enough.l Out.
